New Funding Announced 2 Feb 2022
Today the Government announced a new injection of $121m to support the arts sector through 2022. It’s welcome news as our sector suffers on an individual level and collectively on an events level. These time are unprecedented, as if the amount of support funding being made available.
Of this amount, $15m is allocated to the Screen Production Recovery fund for productions affected by the current restrictions. This amount is divided between NZFC and NZOA. There is also an extra $35.5 million for individuals and organisations most affected by the pandemic restrictions introduced last month.
Under the Cultural Sector Emergency Relief Fund the limit on funding for individual organisations is increased from $100,000 to $300,000 and a one-off grant of $5,000 will be available to eligible arts and cultural sector self-employed individuals / sole traders who have lost income or opportunities due to January’s restrictions. This is a big bonus for sure.
More information on how to access the Cultural Sector Emergency Relief Fund will be available in the next week and the Fund will open in 3 weeks.
